This short film was shot in a single location by a small crew with no budget but all heart - a group of Batswana filmmakers came together and decided to create the filmmaking work that is extremely scarce in their small country, even if there was no immediate money to be gained.

Shingirai, once a proud hunter, becomes entangled in tragedy after unknowingly violating the king’s daughter, Chiedza, under the influence of supernatural forces. Silent Screams Story: Set in Masvingo, Zimbabwe, Silent Screams follows Tawanda, a young university student eager to begin a fresh chapter in life. After moving into a modest apartment, his optimism is quickly shadowed by disturbing occurrences—unseen knocks, threatening notes, and unsettling noises from the next room. His mysterious neighbor, Farai, appears to be battling terrifying voices and violent breakdowns. But as Tawanda digs deeper, the line between reality and illusion begins to blur, leading to a shocking revelation: Farai never existed. He was a projection of Tawanda’s own fractured mind, a manifestation of his isolation and untreated mental illness. Themes: Isolation: The film explores how loneliness and detachment from community can intensify psychological struggles. Mental Health Stigma: By placing viewers inside Tawanda’s collapsing perception of reality, it sheds light on the unspoken battles many endure in silence. The film's title crystallises in the last few scenes when she makes a choice that could change everything.
